Gas as a bridge to renewables

Gas as a bridge to renewables

With the global drive to decarbonize the economy, natural gas plays an important role as a bridge to renewable energy. Unlike coal, natural gas produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions when burned. This allows it to be used as a transition fuel until renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power reach sufficient capacity to fully cover electricity needs. Gas-fired power generation is more flexible and reliable compared to renewable sources, allowing it to compensate for their instability. However, to maintain its importance in the long term, the gas industry should actively invest in the development of emission reduction technologies, energy efficiency and integration with renewable energy sources.
